Details
A vulnerability was found in ZcashFoundation Zebra up to 6.0.x. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function remaining_transaction_value of the component Contextual Verification. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
Zebra before 6.1.0 contains an inefficient algorithmic complexity vulnerability in remaining_transaction_value that clones the entire block-level spent-UTXO map per transaction during contextual verification. Attackers can mine or seed the mempool with roughly 26,000 minimal single-input transactions in one block, stalling every validating node for over 52 seconds.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-104426 since 10/02/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
