Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Penpot up to 2.17.x. This issue affects the function delete-share-link RPC of the component Delete Share Link. The manipulation of the argument share-link ID/share-link UUID with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is integrity, and availability. Penpot is an open-source design and prototyping platform. Prior to 2.18.0, the delete-share-link RPC retrieves a caller-selected share-link ID and verifies only that the caller can edit the parent file. It does not verify that the caller created the share link or has owner or administrator authority, allowing any file editor who knows a share-link UUID to delete links created by other users and revoke external reviewers' access. This issue is fixed in version 2.18.0.
