Details
A vulnerability was found in VisiData (version now known). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function extract of the component RemoteZipFile. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is integrity. CVE summarizes:
A path traversal vulnerability exists in the unzip_http RemoteZipFile extract functionality of VisiData (version(s): dev (commit 38b21f78)). A specially crafted .zip file can lead to arbitrary file write. An attacker can provide a crafted URL to trigger this vulnerability.
