Pydantic AI up to 2.52.x Concurrency Limiting stream_text debounce_by denial of service

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Pydantic AI up to 2.52.x. Affected is the function stream_text of the component Concurrency Limiting. The manipulation of the argument debounce_by with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:

Pydantic AI is a Python agent framework for building applications and workflows with Generative AI. From 2.10.0 until 2.53.0, streamed requests made through ConcurrencyLimitedModel or limit_model_concurrency can retain shared concurrency slots because anyio.CapacityLimiter associates an acquired slot with the borrowing task while streaming cleanup can run in a different task. Early stream termination, cancellation, consumer exceptions, or complete stream_text() consumption with debounce_by=0.1 can therefore leave capacity occupied, eventually preventing later requests that share the long-lived limiter from proceeding and causing a denial of service. Agent-level max_concurrency and non-streaming model requests are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 2.53.0.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-107286 since 10/07/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 2.53.0 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-95039). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
