Details
A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg up to 9.0.2. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function get_current_fragment of the component DASH demuxer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a infinite loop vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-835. The product contains an iteration or loop with an exit condition that cannot be reached, i.e., an infinite loop. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:
FFmpeg through 9.0.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the DASH demuxer that allows attackers to trigger an infinite loop by supplying an empty SegmentTemplate media URL. Attackers can craft an .mpd manifest declaring SegmentTemplate media="" so get_current_fragment() calls av_strireplace() with an empty search string, consuming CPU indefinitely.
