FalkorDB up to 4.19.x Bolt src/bolt/bolt_api.c BoltReadHandler out-of-bounds write

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in FalkorDB up to 4.19.x. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function BoltReadHandler of the file src/bolt/bolt_api.c of the component Bolt Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-787. The product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

A heap-based out-of-bounds write in the BoltReadHandler function (src/bolt/bolt_api.c) in FalkorDB before 4.20.0 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code by sending a Bolt RESET message with an attacker-chosen chunk size to the Bolt port. The handler checks the size only with ASSERT(), which is compiled out in release builds, then computes a destination pointer from the wire-supplied 16-bit size and moves buffered data up to about 64 KiB backwards past the start of the read buffer. Only deployments that enable the Bolt endpoint (BOLT_PORT, disabled by default) are affected.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-107908 since 10/09/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 4.20.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
