Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in FalkorDB up to 4.19.x. This vulnerability affects the function ws_read_frame/buffer_apply_mask of the file src/bolt/ws.c of the component Bolt Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-787. The product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A heap-based out-of-bounds write in the ws_read_frame function (src/bolt/ws.c) and the buffer_apply_mask function (src/bolt/buffer.c) in FalkorDB before 4.20.0 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial of service and possibly corrupt heap memory by sending a WebSocket frame with a 64-bit extended payload length to the Bolt port. The payload length is not bounded, and the only bounds check in buffer_apply_mask is an ASSERT(), which is compiled out in release builds, so the function XORs memory beyond the end of the receive buffer with the attacker-supplied mask key. Only deployments that enable the Bolt endpoint (BOLT_PORT, disabled by default) are affected.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-107909 since 10/09/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 4.20.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
