MariaDB up to 13.0.1 FRM Metadata memory corruption

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in MariaDB up to 13.0.1 and classified as very critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the component FRM Metadata Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

MariaDB server is a community developed fork of MySQL server. From 10.6.1 until 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2, MariaDB insufficiently validated counts, offsets, lengths, and field boundaries in FRM metadata while opening binary FRM files. An attacker able to place a crafted FRM file in the data directory could trigger out-of-bounds reads or writes, crash the server, or potentially execute code. This issue is fixed in versions 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-107821 since 10/08/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 10/09/2026).

Upgrading to version 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3 or 13.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
