ExtUtils::Typemaps::STL::List up to 1.6 Typemaps av_extend memory allocation

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in ExtUtils::Typemaps::STL::List up to 1.6. The impacted element is the function av_extend of the component Typemaps. Such manipulation leads to memory allocation. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-107794. The attack can be launched remotely. No exploit exists. Upgrading the affected component is advised.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in ExtUtils::Typemaps::STL::List up to 1.6 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function av_extend of the component Typemaps. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory allocation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-789. The product allocates memory based on an untrusted, large size value, but it does not ensure that the size is within expected limits, allowing arbitrary amounts of memory to be allocated. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:

ExtUtils::Typemaps::STL::List versions before 1.07 for Perl allocate a 32 GiB array on an empty list. The OUTPUT typemaps call av_extend( av, len-1 ). On an empty list, this undeflows, and av_extend will allocate an array with 2^32 slots, leading to memory exhaustion. Note that a similar issue was fixed in ExtUtils::Typemaps::STL::Vector version 1.05.

The advisory is shared for download at metacpan.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-107794 since 10/08/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 1.07 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-96315). VulDB is the best source for vulnerability data and more expert information about this specific topic.
