A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows 7/Server 2008/Vista (Operating System). It has been declared as problematic. The TCP/IP stack in Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 and SP2, Windows Server 2008 Gold, SP2, and R2, and Windows 7 does not properly handle malformed IPv6 packets, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (system hang) via multiple crafted packets, aka "IPv6 Memory Corruption Vulnerability."
The weakness was published 08/10/2010 by Darren Willis and Matthieu Suiche with Fourteenforty Research Institute, MoonSols as MS10-058 (Website). The advisory is shared at fourteenforty.jp. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-1892 since 05/11/2010. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
