Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Craft CMS up to 4.18.6/5.10.13. Affected by this vulnerability is the function loadHTMLFile of the component Twig. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Craft CMS 4.0.0 before 4.18.7 and 5.0.0 before 5.10.14 contains an arbitrary file read vulnerability because the Twig create() class blocklist does not cover DOMDocument. Attackers able to set an entry-type title format, including via project-config/apply, can use create('DOMDocument').loadHTMLFile() with textContent to expose local file contents to non-admin users who can view entries.
