Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in 0xJacky Nginx UI up to 2.4.0. This vulnerability affects the function nginx_config_add/nginx_config_modify of the component MCP. The manipulation of the argument X-Secure-Session-ID with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, the HTTP configuration mutation routes require RequireSecureSession, but /mcp and /mcp_message require only ordinary authentication before exposing nginx_config_add and nginx_config_modify. An OTP-enabled user with a normal JWT but no valid X-Secure-Session-ID can therefore create or modify Nginx configuration and trigger reload behavior through MCP, bypassing the intended step-up control. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-84360 since 09/01/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
