A vulnerability was found in FreeRDP up to 3.31.x and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function Emulate_SCardReleaseContext of the component Smartcard Emulation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
FreeRDP 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 does not remove card handles when Emulate_SCardReleaseContext releases a smartcard-emulation context, so Emulate_SCardTransmit later looks up the deleted parent context and reaches a terminating WINPR_ASSERT. A malicious RDP server can crash a connecting client with smartcard emulation and redirection enabled by releasing a context, establishing another, and issuing SCardTransmit with the stale card handle.
