A vulnerability was found in phpBB Pjirc Module 0.5 (Forum Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The manipulation of the argument phpEx with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in forum/irc/irc.php in the PJIRC 0.5 module for phpBB allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the phpEx parameter.
