Details
A vulnerability was found in Froxlor up to 2.3.13. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function Ftps.add of the file /var/lib/extrausers/group of the component Ftps Add. The manipulation of the argument additional_members with an unknown input leads to a injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Froxlor 0.10.0 before 2.3.14 contains a newline injection vulnerability that allows authenticated customers to inject arbitrary entries into the root-owned NSS group database via the unvalidated additional_members parameter of the Ftps.add API. Attackers can embed newline characters that the REBUILD_NSSUSERS cron writes unsanitized into /var/lib/extrausers/group, creating privileged group entries for local privilege escalation.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-109961 since 10/13/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1055 for this issue.
