Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in xxyopen Novel up to 3.5.0. Affected by this issue is the function UserServiceImpl.register of the component Registration. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak password hash vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-916. The product generates a hash for a password, but it uses a scheme that does not provide a sufficient level of computational effort that would make password cracking attacks infeasible or expensive. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Xxyopen novel through 3.5.0 contains a weak password hashing vulnerability that allows attackers to recover plaintext passwords because UserServiceImpl.register() stores unsalted MD5 digests in user_info.password. Attackers who obtain the password column through a database leak or backup exposure can crack hashes with precomputed tables or GPU brute force and reuse credentials.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-110104 since 10/13/2026. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely.
