Details
A vulnerability has been found in Mistral AI Mistral Vibe up to 2.25.4 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function _extract_commands of the file bash.py. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Mistral Vibe before 2.25.5 contains a permission validation bypass vulnerability that allows attackers to execute unauthorized commands by exploiting a parsing discrepancy between tree-sitter-bash and bash in handling backslash-newline line continuations in the _extract_commands() function of bash.py. Attackers can craft a command string where tree-sitter-bash extracts only an allowlisted prefix such as cd while bash joins the line continuation into a materially different and hidden command such as a curl request, causing resolve_permission to grant ALWAYS permission while bash executes unauthorized arbitrary commands.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-109428 since 10/12/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
