CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.111/6.18.53/7.2.7/7.3-rc3. Affected is the function ieee80211_request_ibss_scan of the component mac80211. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the properties that are required to process the data safely and correctly. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: don't warn when an IBSS has no channel to scan ieee80211_request_ibss_scan() warns when regulatory leaves no allowed channel, but that can happen as the regdomain can change while IBSS is operating, and it can continue to operate briefly during the 60s grace period until it's shut down. Just remove the warning in this case.

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-98425 since 09/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy.
