OW2 ASM up to 9.10 asm-commons AdviceAdapter forwardJumpStackFrames memory allocation

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability was found in OW2 ASM up to 9.10. It has been rated as problematic. The affected element is the function forwardJumpStackFrames of the component asm-commons AdviceAdapter. The manipulation leads to memory allocation. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-110262. An attack has to be approached locally. There is no exploit available. Upgrading the affected component is advised.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in OW2 ASM up to 9.10 and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function forwardJumpStackFrames of the component asm-commons AdviceAdapter. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory allocation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-789. The product allocates memory based on an untrusted, large size value, but it does not ensure that the size is within expected limits, allowing arbitrary amounts of memory to be allocated. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:

OW2 ASM 3.1 before 9.11 contains an excessive memory allocation vulnerability in the asm-commons AdviceAdapter that allows attackers to exhaust memory by supplying crafted class files. Attackers can craft bytecode with many forward jump targets in constructors, causing unbounded stack copies in forwardJumpStackFrames and allocation of hundreds of megabytes, leading to denial of service.

The advisory is shared at gitlab.ow2.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-110262 since 10/13/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 9.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
