Details
A vulnerability has been found in Gitea up to 1.27.1 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component Reusable Workflow. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a behavioral workflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-841. The product supports a session in which more than one behavior must be performed by an actor, but it does not properly ensure that the actor performs the behaviors in the required sequence. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Gitea resolves local reusable workflow files from a fork's head commit when a trusted base-branch workflow runs for a pull_request_target event. A fork author can modify a referenced reusable workflow so attacker-controlled code executes with the repository and organization secrets available to that event. Exploitation requires a base workflow that calls a local reusable workflow, and bypasses the intended separation between trusted base code and untrusted fork code.
