Details
A vulnerability was found in sahlberg libsmb2 up to 6.2. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function decode_acl of the component Decode ACL. The manipulation of the argument AclSize with an unknown input leads to a integer underflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-191. The product subtracts one value from another, such that the result is less than the minimum allowable integer value, which produces a value that is not equal to the correct result. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
libsmb2 through 6.2 contains an integer underflow vulnerability in decode_acl that allows malicious SMB servers to trigger heap out-of-bounds reads via crafted security descriptors. Attackers controlling a server or intercepting unsigned sessions can send an AclSize below 8 in a QUERY_INFO reply, bypassing ACE bounds checks and crashing the client.
