The default configuration of SAP NetWeaver before 7.0 SP15 does not enable the "Always Use Secure HTML Editor" (aka Editor Security or Secure Editing) parameter, which allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks by entering feedback for a file.
The weakness was disclosed 04/16/2008 by Jaime Blasco (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-1846 since 04/16/2008. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
Upgrading to version 7.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
