Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Gogs up to 0.14.x. This affects the function IsSameSite of the file internal/urlx/urlx.go of the component Redirect. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a redirect vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. This is going to have an impact on integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Gogs is an open source self-hosted Git service. Prior to 0.15.0+dev, an unauthenticated attacker can provide a backslash-containing target to the /redirect endpoint, and similar post-action redirect flows are also affected. internal/urlx/urlx.go IsSameSite validates a normalized form of the target while cmd/gogs/internal/web/web.go getRedirect and other callers use the original value in the Location response. This backslash normalization mismatch lets browsers interpret the Location value as a scheme-relative external URL, allowing links on a trusted Gogs domain to redirect victims to attacker-controlled content for phishing. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.15.0+dev.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-82402 since 08/29/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1204.001 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 0.15.0+dev eliminates this vulnerability.
