Details
A vulnerability was found in makeplane Plane up to 1.3.1. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function ProjectMemberViewSet.partial_update/ProjectMemberPreferenceEndpoint.patch. The manipulation of the argument member_id with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Plane is an open-source project management tool. In 1.3.1 and earlier, ProjectMemberViewSet.partial_update places its authorization checks inside the role update branch, so a guest or member can omit role and change another ProjectMember record's is_active field, including deactivating a project administrator. ProjectMemberPreferenceEndpoint.patch separately trusts the member_id path value and lets a project member overwrite another member's preferences. These missing object-level authorization checks permit membership disruption and cross-member preference tampering. The vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.0.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-102985 since 09/29/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1548.002 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 1.4.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
