InvoiceShelf up to 2.3.9 JSON Handler/View session expiration

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in InvoiceShelf up to 2.3.9. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component JSON Handler/View Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session expiration vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-613. According to WASC, "Insufficient Session Expiration is when a web site permits an attacker to reuse old session credentials or session IDs for authorization." Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

InvoiceShelf is an open-source web & mobile app that helps track expenses, payments and create professional invoices and estimates. Prior to version 2.4.0, InvoiceShelf public customer invoice, estimate, and payment routes use an EmailLog token's numeric mailable_id without verifying mailable_type, and the JSON handlers do not enforce EmailLog::isExpired. A token issued for one document type can therefore disclose a different company's document when numeric identifiers collide, and an expired token can remain usable on the JSON routes GET /customer/invoices/{email_log:token}, GET /customer/estimates/{email_log:token}, and GET /customer/payments/{email_log:token}. View handlers can also mark a mismatched invoice or estimate as viewed and send a notification. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.0.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-55383 since 06/16/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

Upgrading to version 2.4.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
