Details
A vulnerability was found in error311 FileRise up to 3.18.x. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function FolderModel::createFolder of the file /api/folder/createFolder.php of the component Folder Creation. The manipulation of the argument folderName with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
FileRise is a self-hosted web-based file manager with multi-file upload, editing, and batch operations. Prior to 3.19.0, FileRise validates the complete folderName string but does not reject dot-dot path segments before FolderModel::createFolder() constructs and creates the destination. An authenticated low-privileged user with a valid CSRF token and create or owner permission on the parent can submit traversal segments to POST /api/folder/createFolder.php and create directories outside UPLOAD_DIR wherever the web-server account can write. This issue is fixed in version 3.19.0.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-62664 since 07/14/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
