Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Red Hat Fuse, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform Expansion Pack and Single Sign-On (version now known). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function ContentRepositoryImpl.copyExplodedContent of the component ContentRepositoryImpl. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

A flaw was found in the ContentRepositoryImpl.copyExplodedContent function of the wildfly-core library, which is used by WildFly and JBoss EAP to manage server deployments. The issue occurs when the library processes an unsanitized deployment name. Due to a missing containment check, an attacker with the Deployer RBAC role can use path traversal sequences to access files outside the restricted deployment directory. This can allow the attacker to delete arbitrary directories or create files with arbitrary content, leading to a full privilege escalation to the management SuperUser role.

The advisory is shared for download at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-85634 since 09/04/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation requires an enhanced level of successful authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 10/15/2026). The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-102164). VulDB is the best source for vulnerability data and more expert information about this specific topic.
