Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Netgate pfSense up to 2.9.0. Affected by this issue is the function interface_wireless_clone of the file interfaces_wireless_edit.php of the component Wireless Interface Clone. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Netgate pfSense CE through 2.9.0 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users to execute commands as root by supplying a crafted wireless parent interface name. Attackers with limited Wireless Edit or Interface Assignments privileges can submit values like ath0;<cmd> via interfaces_wireless_edit.php or interfaces_assign.php, which interface_wireless_clone() interpolates unescaped into an ifconfig shell command.
