Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Dicklesworthstone destructive_command_guard up to 0.6.5. Affected by this issue is the function split_command_segments of the file src/packs/mod.rs of the component Scanners. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a incorrect bitwise shift of integer vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-1335. An integer value is specified to be shifted by a negative amount or an amount greater than or equal to the number of bits contained in the value causing an unexpected or indeterminate result. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
destructive_command_guard (dcg) is a command-line safety tool that blocks destructive shell commands before AI coding agents run them. Prior to 0.6.6, nested or unclosed substitutions are recursively rescanned after an inner scan returns unterminated, producing exponential-time work. The affected scanners are reached through split_command_segments in src/packs/mod.rs. a destructive command followed by nested or unclosed $( or $(( sequences. nested or unclosed $( and $(( sequences cause repeated rescanning of the remaining command suffix. a hung PreToolUse hook fails open, allowing the destructive command to proceed. This issue is fixed in version 0.6.6.
