Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Contact Form 7 Signature Addon Plugin up to 4.2.2. This affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation of the argument signature with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
The Contact Form 7 Signature Addon WordPress plugin through 4.2.2 does not sanitize a signature field value before building an email attachment path from it, allowing unauthenticated users to attach arbitrary files (bounded to wp-content on current Contact Form 7) to a form's outgoing email via path traversal; when a form is configured to email a copy to a submitter-controlled address, the attacker can read the targeted file.
