Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in clidey WhoDB up to 0.134.0. This vulnerability affects the function read_text/read_blob/COPY/ATTACH of the file session.key of the component Query Editor. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
WhoDB 0.104.0 before 0.135.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows remote attackers to read and write arbitrary host files by running DuckDB filesystem functions through the query editor. Attackers can log in to a DuckDB file without credentials and use read_text, read_blob, COPY ... TO or ATTACH to steal session.key and stored database credentials or overwrite files.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-112005 since 10/18/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
