CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5 and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function ieee80211_lookup_ra_sta of the component mac80211. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: prevent AP VLAN tx from other interfaces Since the station lookup was factored out of ieee80211_build_hdr(), ieee80211_lookup_ra_sta() uses sta_info_get_bss() for all AP and AP VLAN frames, not only for control port frames. A unicast frame sent on one interface thus matches a station of a different VLAN of the same BSS and is transmitted to it. Only match stations of the interface the frame is sent on, except for control port frames, since those may be sent for VLAN stations directly on the BSS interface.

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-98822 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026). The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 or 7.3-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch fd875e24e8f2b202e3636b3ef8e6060874eca0e5/88e96d902efeefbffc34450969f40dc61a0c8a42/ad61b9a5febb42e4b96df8d30ad76ddc36dda9d0/7f93ca31f7fd9b42e7d692f59514436d448ac908 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
