Buffer overflow in the Display Names message feature in Cerulean Studios Trillian Basic and Pro 3.1.9.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or execute arbitrary code via a long nickname in an MSN protocol message.

The bug was discovered 04/24/2008. The weakness was disclosed 04/29/2008 by Juan Pablo Lopez Yacubian (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-2008 since 04/28/2008. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
