CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability described as very critical has been identified in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5. The impacted element is an unknown function of the component kionix-kx022a. Executing a manipulation can lead to array index. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-98835. The attack can be executed remotely. There is not any exploit available. Upgrading the affected component is recommended.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5. It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component kionix-kx022a. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a array index vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-129. The product uses untrusted input when calculating or using an array index, but the product does not validate or incorrectly validates the index to ensure the index references a valid position within the array. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: accel: kionix-kx022a: Fix array boundary check The driver performs a sanity check for an array size, when converting a register value to an array index. The check incorrectly accepts the sizeof(array) as a last index, when last valid index should be sizeof(array) - 1. Fix the check by bailing out when index >= sizeof(array).

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-98835 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 or 7.3-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 87746be179dca4d94d73d5a323a39a87bb2e90fc/4c73c1859fa64509aae7e23a6dbd2d5c8a64c05d/22d377178de281d21ddf908d03a8e9fde3339d9f/0e65412aee4f651d2c9785f542a13e4b44002a75 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
