CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function kxcjk1013_write_event_config of the component kxcjk-1013 Driver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer underflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-191. The product subtracts one value from another, such that the result is less than the minimum allowable integer value, which produces a value that is not equal to the correct result. As an impact it is known to affect integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: accel: kxcjk-1013: reject duplicate event disable The IIO core does not filter duplicate writes to the event enable attribute. kxcjk1013_write_event_config() already ignores repeated enable requests, but a repeated disable request still calls kxcjk1013_set_power_state(data, false), dropping a runtime PM reference that was not acquired for this request. This can underflow the runtime PM usage count and trigger a "Runtime PM usage count underflow" warning. Return early when the requested state already matches ev_enable_state.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-98679 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 or 7.3-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch ad690c0c1b9131725619e352cb7c970488cbf436/3365209e758c845a197211645731f0e393a86012/aa94a37b5a3e560c277dac6f9e5d0d75549a6583/dd30c10ff60d2b30386c23bb7c61cc97f2385c97 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
