CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5 and classified as critical. This issue affects the function acp_hw_init of the file drm/amdgpu of the component ACP MFD. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: fix ACP MFD device leak on init failure acp_hw_init() registers ACP child devices with mfd_add_devices() before attaching them to the ACP power domain and initializing the hardware. If attaching a child to the power domain fails, or if the ACP reset or clock enable operation times out, the failure path frees only the source cell, resource, and platform-data allocations. The child platform devices already registered by mfd_add_devices() remain registered and are never released. Remove the children from the power domain and unregister the MFD devices on failures that occur after mfd_add_devices() succeeds. Keep mfd_add_devices() failures on the existing cleanup path since the MFD core already rolls back partially registered children itself. The issue was identified by a static analysis tool I developed and confirmed by manual review. (cherry picked from commit 63da68d6a2279ec945581c990c5a59a5ae8b5560)

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-98779 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 or 7.3-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 2b9a53940a2bc063ea4cd09ee49220a503a0170c/587469076e4ffb617f7ad1a0c4a13072a3e87113/abf854513bc19e6e24d45353ac99ec5627ee0acc/f0013046151b7467e62c471c1c83d63ea255799c is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
