CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5. This affects the function btintel_pcie_send_frame of the component btintel_pcie. Executing a manipulation can lead to buffer overflow. This vulnerability is registered as CVE-2026-98730. The attack needs to be launched locally. No exploit is available. You should upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5. It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function btintel_pcie_send_frame of the component btintel_pcie. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel_pcie: reject oversized TX packets in send_frame() btintel_pcie_send_frame() eventually copies skb->data into a fixed BTINTEL_PCIE_BUFFER_SIZE (4096) DMA buffer via memcpy() in btintel_pcie_prepare_tx(), with a 4-byte PCIe type header prepended. A user-space process with HCI_CHANNEL_USER access can inject an oversized packet and overflow the buffer. Reject packets larger than BTINTEL_PCIE_BUFFER_SIZE - BTINTEL_PCIE_HCI_TYPE_LEN on entry.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-98730 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 or 7.3-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 3d6ba6be9bef13edcd4ad74f7cfdd0c34db4d2bc/84df222de86eabed543361025ed54ce838c0b573/9806a748f9ab223b733624367b6ddda77fb9450e/f771f96557a4d953a7e4d045870547271e36e819 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
