CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.111/6.18.54/7.2.8/7.3-rc4. It has been declared as very critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function btintel_pcie_msix_rx_handle of the component btintel_pcie. The manipulation of the argument frbd_tag/cr_hia with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel_pcie: validate device-supplied DMA indices In btintel_pcie_msix_rx_handle(), the driver processes RX completion descriptors (urbd1) written by the PCIe device into DMA-coherent memory. urbd1->frbd_tag (a 16-bit field fully controlled by the device firmware via DMA) is used directly as an array index into rxq->bufs[] without any bounds check. rxq->bufs[] has only BTINTEL_PCIE_RX_DESCS_COUNT (64) entries, while frbd_tag can be any value 0-65535. A malicious or malfunctioning device can write an out-of-range frbd_tag, causing the driver to dereference an out-of-bounds data_buf pointer. Additionally, cr_hia is read from a DMA-shared index array also writable by the device; if the device sets cr_hia >= rxq->count, the while-loop never terminates because cr_tia is wrapped via modulo rxq->count and can never equal an out-of-range cr_hia. Add bounds validation for cr_hia and frbd_tag in the RX path, and cr_hia in the TX path. Log invalid values with bt_dev_err before returning.

It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-98601 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.112, 6.18.55, 7.2.9 or 7.3-rc5 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch f42cd95e679d5b78611cd2208cd1c41ad0045ffa/8ec5838a35b03ac0cf3602452a369898051ffaf9/b29b70bfa12133423924fcd0327c19a802f7e368/37a11129345337efd6eef8e62b03b6348cd0dd8b is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
