CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.157/6.12.111/6.18.54/7.2.8/7.3-rc4. Affected by this vulnerability is the function inet_csk_listen_stop of the file net/ipv4/inet_connection_sock.c of the component TCP Listener Stop. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: Skip cond_resched() in inet_csk_listen_stop() under BPF context bpf_sock_destroy() runs from the tcp iterator, under rcu_read_lock(). Do the same for the cond_resched(). The loop runs inside the iterator's rcu_read_lock(), it must not reschedule or report a quiescent state there.

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-98646 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.55, 7.2.9 or 7.3-rc5 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 23da88d1597ee7fdda373e1530284b763710911f/5b52417c6196e05618a3b5d9753dbed9adef0166/55bbebf2829c3f47c5a48fc261740301d0f25f48/ee7246bccb9da66076dd8094daa48bdc761d6b76/eaab8cab451b9502ce224cd202550375b894a467 is able to eliminate this problem.
