Linux Kernel up to 7.3-rc4 amdgpu amdgpu_debugfs_test_ib_show denial of service

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Linux Kernel up to 7.3-rc4. This affects the function amdgpu_debugfs_test_ib_show of the component amdgpu. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: Fix runtime PM leak in amdgpu_debugfs_test_ib_show() amdgpu_debugfs_test_ib_show() resumes the device with pm_runtime_get_sync() before taking the reset domain semaphore with down_write_killable(). If the write lock acquisition is interrupted, the function returns without calling pm_runtime_put_autosuspend(), leaking the runtime PM reference acquired for the device and keeping the GPU awake. Drop the runtime PM reference on the interrupted down_write_killable() error path before returning. (cherry picked from commit ec30a576c2d4c0364549e6c04218f50704ef56c8)

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-98519 since 09/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally.
