Details
A vulnerability was found in Gitea up to 28.1.0. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Actions Artifact Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
The Gitea Actions artifact v4 (Twirp) handlers read the whole request body into memory without a size limit. A user who can run a workflow and obtains the runner token of that run could send an oversized request to the artifact service and exhaust the memory of the server, which terminates the Gitea process. The request body is now limited to 1 MiB.
