Details
A vulnerability was found in aribb24 up to 1.0.3. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function decoder_handle_csi of the file src/decoder.c of the component Decoder. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. Impacted is integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
libaribb24 (aribb24) through 1.0.3 contains a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in decoder_handle_csi() in src/decoder.c that allows attackers to write past a fixed 256-entry array by supplying unbounded CSI parameter bytes. Attackers can embed a caption statement with a CSI introducer and over 256 parameter bytes in media files or broadcast streams to crash FFmpeg or VLC or corrupt the return address.
