Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in codexu NoteGen up to 0.38.3. This vulnerability affects the function image_inspect of the component Chat Image Analysis. The manipulation of the argument sourceUrl with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
NoteGen through 0.38.3 contains an external control of file path vulnerability in chat image analysis that allows attackers to read local image files via unvalidated synced sourceUrl paths. Attackers with write access to the victim's sync target can plant absolute paths or file:// URLs, causing image_inspect to send local images to the AI provider.
