Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in aleksey-hoffman Sigma File Manager up to 2.2.0. Affected is the function validate_remote_url of the file security.rs of the component URL Validation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Sigma File Manager through 2.2.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability because validate_remote_url() in security.rs never checks resolved IP addresses for extension download commands. A malicious extension or catalog entry can use hostnames resolving to loopback, private, or cloud metadata addresses to read internal responses via files written to the extension directory.
