Details
A vulnerability has been found in Micromatch Picomatch up to 4.0.7 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function analyzeRepeatedExtglob of the file lib/parse.js of the component Extglob. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a redos vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-1333. The product uses a regular expression with an inefficient, possibly exponential worst-case computational complexity that consumes excessive CPU cycles. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
Picomatch through 4.0.7 contains a regular expression denial of service vulnerability that allows attackers to block the event loop by supplying single-branch repeated extglob patterns. Attackers can provide globs like +(*) or +(*a), which analyzeRepeatedExtglob in lib/parse.js skips, causing exponential backtracking against short crafted strings and denying service to Node.js applications.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-112366 since 10/19/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
