Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in FOSSBilling up to 0.8.5. Affected by this issue is the function getConfig of the file /api/admin/extension/config_get. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
FOSSBilling is an open source billing and client-management platform. From 0.8.4 until 0.8.6, hasManagePermission fails open for inactive non-core modules because its early return on !isExtensionActive skips the module-access and manage_settings checks. A low-privileged staff account with module-level extension access targets a deactivated non-core module through extension/config_get or extension/config_save. The account can call api/admin/extension/config_get or api/admin/extension/config_save for a deactivated non-core module to read decrypted retained extension secrets and overwrite stored extension configuration. The getConfig function returns the decrypted stored configuration despite the module's inactive state. This residual path remained after the earlier CVE-2026-62962 authorization fix. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.6.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-111046 since 10/15/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
