Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in WSO2 Identity Server (the affected version unknown). Affected is an unknown part of the component Carbon Abstract OTP Authenticator/Email OTP Authenticator. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
The authentication endpoint of WSO2 Identity Server fails to provide a consistent system response when a username does not exist in the system, allowing attackers to differentiate between valid and invalid usernames. This difference in responses can be leveraged to enumerate existing user accounts. Successful exploitation enables an attacker to discover valid usernames within the system, significantly increasing the risk of subsequent attacks such as brute force attacks on user credentials, social engineering attacks, and information leakage. The discovered usernames can be used to craft targeted phishing emails or other social engineering campaigns.
The advisory is shared for download at security.docs.wso2.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-13591 since 11/24/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy.
