Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in EvoScientist up to 0.2.4. This vulnerability affects the function start_async_task of the component Async Agent. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
EvoScientist 0.1.0 before 0.2.5 contains an approval bypass vulnerability that allows attackers to run host shell commands by delegating them to async sub-agents lacking an interrupt_on gate. Attackers can plant instructions in ingested content such as fetched web pages, so the agent calls start_async_task and runs commands with user privileges and environment secrets.
The advisory is shared for download at lasso.security. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-77930 since 08/21/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
