Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in ApostropheCMS up to 4.33.x. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component Serializer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
ApostropheCMS is an open-source Node.js content management system. Prior to 4.34.0, a project-defined free-form widget style field can carry an editor-controlled quote into an inline style attribute because the wrapper serializer does not apply HTML-attribute encoding. The quote can terminate the style attribute and inject executable attributes when published content, or an affected draft viewed by a higher-privileged user, is rendered. This issue is fixed in version 4.34.0.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-112958 since 10/19/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1055.
Upgrading to version 4.34.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
