Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in FreeRDP up to 3.32.0. This affects the function client_cli_present_gateway_message of the component Gateway Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
FreeRDP before 3.32.1 on Windows contains a heap out-of-bounds read in client_cli_present_gateway_message that passes a byte count as wide-character printf precision. A malicious RD Gateway can send pre-authentication consent or service messages, causing the client to read twice the buffer size, leaking heap memory or crashing.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-114041 since 10/20/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy.
